Marie Kay McCullough

Principle/co-founder/Head of Ballet

AISTD/AIDB/RAD

Marie started dancing at the age of 5, at the Jean Geddes School Of Dance in Manchester. She competed in numerous festivals and competitions around the North of England and won over 400 medals and 150 trophies for Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Song & Dance, Greek and National Dance. At the age of 10 she was awarded a scholarship to study at Elmhurst Ballet School where she trained for 9 years before graduating with a Diploma in Musical Theatre and numerous qualifications including: I.S.T.D. Advanced and Associate Teaching exams in Modern Theatre and Tap, R.A.D. Ballet, Advanced and IdB (Teaching certificate) in Spanish Dance, Grade 8 Associated Board Singing exam and L.A.M.D.A. Diploma for Acting.

Marie has performed in Musicals, Pantomimes and Summer Shows in London Theatres and tours around the U.K. Credits includes Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Spirit of the Dance, Pleasure Island, Magic of the Musicals, Boogie Nights, On the Town, The Sound of Music, Albert Hall New Year Gala, Carmen, Seaside Special and various Pantomimes including the title role in Cinderella, Wendy in Peter Pan, Princess in Aladdin, Jill in Jack and The Beanstalk and Fairy Bo Bells in Dick Whittington. She has also performed as a soloist with Dansez Espagnola for a commissioned Spanish Ballet premier Histoire Del Toreo (Barbican Theatre and Kenwood Lake).

Marie has also choreographed many shows for professional theatre including, Houdini the Musical (UK tour), assisted with Simply Ballroom (Las Vegas) for Qdos Productions and several Pantomimes and Summer Seasons throughout the UK.

Marie is passionate about the performing arts and delights in sharing this love with the young people and adults at Creative Stage.


Katie Cleland

Head of Pre-School/co-founder

After three years at Tiffany's musical theatre college, Katie's professional career took her around the world performing in shows from ships to theatre. Her love for performing and the arts is what she wanted to share with the children of the Scottish Borders when she and Marie originally joined forces to create Creative Stage. Katie loves sharing her passion, knowledge and enthusiasm with the children of Creative Stage in her weekly classes.

Katie recently gained a diploma in fitness instruction and post and pre-natal exercise. She is enjoying developing her teaching skills in all things movement!
